Area City is one of Italy’s most historic clubs, located in Mestre, just outside Venice. Opened in 1989, it has hosted decades of nightlife, music, and cultural shifts. The challenge wasn’t to reinvent its identity, but to update its visual language — respecting its legacy while bringing it back into a contemporary lighting and stage-design context.
We redesigned the entire lighting and LED wall layout, starting from spatial analysis and operator workflow. The new disposition was conceived to enhance depth, rhythm, and flexibility, allowing the venue to adapt to different nights, genres, and moods without compromising reliability. Previsualization played a key role in validating sightlines, balance, and visual impact before implementation.
The intervention gave Area City renewed relevance from a lighting and visual perspective. The space gained a stronger identity, greater versatility, and a modern stage presence — proving that even long-established venues can evolve without losing their soul.
